Uber and Lyft have been amazing as sources of extra income for tons of people. People even rent cars and hire drivers to drive ride shares. It’s actually quite amazing the opportunities rideshare has created for people.

I’ve met my share of drivers from all walks of life; retirees, college students, new parents all who are trying to make some extra money and they swear by it. Depending on the city you drive in you could make a killing during rush hour and in airports.

My brother used to drive for Uber and he made enough money on some nights that he didn’t have to go in everyday!

Do you have a room in your house that you can rent out on Airbnb or a more permanent roommate? Well what are you waiting for? You could be making some extra cash by renting it out.

It’s a strategy that many people use to make extra money that could go towards your mortgage, rent, house maintenance etc You have the option of whether you want someone long term where you can advertise on craigslist and Roommates. Alternatively you can use airbnb especially if you have a room in a big city you can make big bucks with this option.

There are so many apps out there for food delivery. From Ubereats, Grubhub, Doordash, Postmates and Instacart you can make a little extra during your free time. You could also work at a restaurant for pizza delivery or for food delivery in general. You already have a car why not put it to use? The good thing is that people tip really well because they want to avoid getting out of their homes.

Uber Eats drivers can make between $8-$12 per hour which isn’t a bad deal if you include tips which make up a bug portion of their income. If you don’t have a car Uber also delivers with bicycles and scooters.

Instacart has been a favorite since the pandemic hit and people did not want to shop for groceries themselves. It’s a safe and convenient way to shop without getting out of your home. They even offer express shopping where you can get your groceries as soon as you need them. If you don’t like to drive Instacart offers another way to make money where you are in-store shopper. You do the shopping and the customer picks up the groceries.

Honestly this may be difficult if you have a full time job but you can get creative with this. There are various things that people will pay for just to avoid having to invest their time in. Offer your services on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and even Craigslist.

These include:

  • Running errands. You could pick up something from the post office, store, dry cleaning etc
  • Start a dog walking service when the kids go to school. This is always in demand especially in the city. Offer to check in on pets as a bonus too.
  • Start a lawn mowing side hustle. Most people don’t like doing this. You could build up a client list.
  • Start a cleaning service. This is hard work but you could charge $100 plus per house and with great referrals this could turn out to be a great business.
  • Offer to organize people’s homes. There are thousands of people who will pay to have you help them declutter and organize their homes.
