I ended up in LA quite by accident. I was heading to another destination and due to a flight delay I missed my flight and decided rather than sulk I would sightsee. It worked out for the best because I was able to see some of the best and most Instagrammable spots in LA in just a few hours before going to the airport. If you find yourself somewhere and you don’t have much time searching for “Instagrammable spots” will always be a hit.
Side note: It cost me $200 to get on the flight which sucked because my flight was delayed due to mechanical problems which I obviously could not control. But hey what can you do?!
I went on Pinterest the night before and on Instagram of course to narrow down all the best and most Instagrammable spots in LA to see in a short time.
The most Instagrammable Spots in LA
Urban Light Exhibit at LACMA
I headed here first thing in the morning with my tripod and it paid off. The lighting in the morning wasn’t great but I had the exhibit all to myself which I loved. The guards are probably used to people showing up for photo shoots because they weren’t bothered by my presence at all. Try different angles to get the best photos that you can edit later.
Address: 5905 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles
Venice Beach and Canals
Goodness how best can I describe this super exclusive neighborhood. I felt like I was in Italy walking along the canals and enjoying the quiet streets. It was probably because I went there early that there were no crowds but this location is perfect for an Instagram photo shoot. Be respectful to the homes and their owners though because people actually live there so respect their privacy.
Pro Tip: Rent a bike and ride along the beach. There are bike paths all along the beach so you can enjoy them.
The Hollywood Sign
This may be a little out of the way but if you are an early riser you can’t miss this iconic shot in LA. There are various ways to get the photo and you can go up or skip the hike and take photos at the bottom if you are short on time. You definitely should make the effort to see the Hollywood sign because have you been to LA if you didn’t get a photo of it?
Santa Monica Pier
I loved the pier, I loved the boardwalk and I loved the beach. See already there you have 3 options in one location and I doubt very much that you would hate any of of them. It was a nice Saturday morning when I went and there were people exercising on the beach. I saw a group doing what looked like CrossFit and in standard LA form they all looked beautiful. I hope they didn’t mind me walking with my large ice cream cone with extra toppings!
Pro tip: The ferris wheel makes for a great backdrop that is associated with the pier.
The Broad
This museum is filled with so many Instagram spots. Make sure you book your tickets ahead of time because they do sell out of their exhibits. Also the most beautiful areas of them museum sell out months in advance especially on weekends.
Make sure you stop at the Infinity Mirrored Room, Yayoi Kusama and Longing for Eternity. Remember you need to reserve your spot for some of these exhibits. Check the website for more information.
Address: 221 S Grand Avenue, Los Angeles
Griffith Park/ Observatory
This is the perfect way to end your day in LA. It’s located away from the city and it’s a quieter experience. There are amazing views of the city from the observatory and additionally there are shows that are offered that you can see.
